I subbed at one of our districts 3 high schools, this week. The teacher had the same assignment for 2nd and 5th hour and everything was due at the end of the hour, for 4 of the 5 classes. I typically paper-clip the piles of work turned in, by hour and leave it on the teacher's desk, with a post it note telling the hour and the date.
After attendance 5th hour, one of the boys stood in front of me (a typical ploy used by kids to keep the teacher from seeing something else going on in the room) and started "small talk". This was the first red flag. I then noticed that 2nd hours papers were not paper-clipped together anymore. 2nd red flag. I then decided to check the papers from 2nd hour to see if any were missing and would turn up later. As I was doing that, the aforementioned young man asked me what I was doing. 3rd red flag. As I continued to check off who turned in work, the young man said, "Is that from our class?", pointing to a worksheet on the floor. It was from 2nd hour.(Ta da!) 4th red flag. I told the boy what I suspected and told him I would put it in my notes to the teacher--which get e-mailed. :)
